Well at least well read. I occasionally check out the links that are coming into this blog and most of the time they are ping-backs. Rarely a really good post on another blog with a link to one of my posts comes to the fore front. Here is what I have found this week:
- blog posts making fun of my spelling
- 2 complementary blog posts praising my stand on phony animal rescues
- 1 blog post calling me nuts because I am not a vegan
As many of my readers know by now I am not the best when it comes to proof reading my own work and many typos are still in my old posts (and a few of the newer ones too). The last one about calling me nuts – to each his or her own. I wonder why that blogger did not bother to post a comment on my blog post disagreeing with me? As my readers know I do publish the negative comments as well as the good ones as long as they are not advertising or full of crude remarks. I have found that many people read blogs for their comments as well as the main blog post and that is why I publish (or try to) most of the comments left for the blog posts.

Actually, I didn’t comment because your comment policy specifically states you won’t approve them. There’s not point to me commenting if it won’t be approved or shown, because there’s no room for discussion which is the whole point of my site and I think from the tone of some of your posts, for your site too.
I also did not call you crazy. Nor do I think you’d be crazy to not be a vegan – not in this society. I do think your logic is extremely flawed in this case, that you’re very ethnocentric, and I was merely pointing it out. I tend to be sarcastic when doing so, but in this case I couldn’t see a way around it.
If you’re the person who left the comment on my blog and questioned my horse experience, I’d like to know so we can start a discourse – a real one, not just the two of us throwing out insults and making accusations. I have horses right now and am studying to become an equine-practicum therapist, so I do have a lot of experience. Every horse person I know truly loves their horses, but they just haven’t been exposed to the thought that horses are not just things or resources. I want to promote this view so horses aren’t abused and killed. More than anything, I simply wish to protect them and animals like them.
Also, just so you know, whether or not I hear from you, I’ll probably be posting about it on my blog. I’d like to be able to do so in a positive light, so I’d love to hear from you.

Shesautomatic,
Don’t flatter yourself by thinking that your blog was the only one to mention this blog in an un-flattering light. I was not the person who posted a comment on your blog about horse experience. I rarely post comments on other people’s blogs (friend’s blogs only) and believe me yours was not one of them. Since you did not list your blog I have no idea who you are! The blog that mentioned that I was nuts could not have been you because that blog belonged to a medical nutritionist (vegan of course) that had college degrees up the ying-yang. You stated that your were studying to become involved in the equine world.
Also where did you get the idea that I don’t post comments? Please read the post again and it states clearly that if the comment is purely to advertise or is full of crude remarks (is that why you didn’t comment?) I will publish. My guess is that you are not a regular reader.

I love your blog and try to visit it at least twice a week. I run a dog rescue and commend your work in making people aware of the grave situtations of dogs around the world.

From your about section:
“If you leave a comment it will NOT be posted but I will read it. I may or may not reply depending on how much time I have to spare. Too busy taking care of animals. So don’t be hurt if you never hear from me.”
That’s where I got the idea.
I’m sorry for getting you confused. I wasn’t trying to flatter myself, but it is a strange coincidence that I posted a post about this blog and veganism the day before this came up. Oops! It’s hard because I don’t know your name, and the woman who left the post on my blog did not leave hers, and your tone and cadence were similar. If you don’t want your blog represented in an un-flattering light, it would help to proof your writing more.
Also, I’m not getting ready to become involved in the horse world, per say. I am interested in equine-assisted therapy and equine rescue.

shesautomatic,
That statement about about not publishing a comment pertains to my “about” page only. That was put there because I was getting all kinds of spam comments that had nothing to do with animals or the blog on the “about” page only. I am sorry it is so misleading to you but that statement has never bothered anyone else.
You still didn’t leave a link to your blog so I could visit. As to proof reading my blog, oh well, sa la vie. I’ll do as I please. After all I write the blog to please me the most. Apparently I have a lot of people that like the blog too. I am opinionated to say the least and that is what is appealing to many. I don’t sugar coat the world nor my feelings about it. My love of animals is a passion so I write about them. You also find yourself drawn to this blog otherwise you would not have taken the time to comment as much as you have already. Now you have flattered me.
Also welcome to the horse rescue crowd. I have taken in 5 rescues in the last 20 years of horse ownership. It can be very expensive. I remember a 22 year old horse that needed $800 in dental work so she could eat properly. I had to work a good bit of overtime to get that bill paid for. I was also head riding instructor at a handicapped riding academy. I liked doing the physical therapy with the 8 year olds and younger – I have a medical background too.

My bad for trying to follow policy. I also thought you could find my blog via my WordPress ID. It’s at http://not-quiteright.net/tvg/.
I too don’t need to sugar coat my words, and even though they may not appeal to many, I still feel they’re necessary. I’m sure you do love animals, just not all of them
Awesome on you for rescuing horses! Most of our center horses have been rescues. Are you NAHRA certified.

Hi shesautomatic, as you can see your name was not linked in your prior comments so I had no way of knowing where your blog was. The last comment of yours is showing a link so now I could visit it. Nice blog!
I let my riding certification drop about 5 years ago when I stopped as a professional riding instructor and horse trainer. I no longer have to make money from horses – I can just enjoy them instead. I found it so much more fun just enjoying my own horses instead of hauling students to horse shows and guided trail rides.
You statement about loving animals, but not all of them does ring true to some extent. I am not too fond of wasps, hornets and black widow spiders, all of which have sent me to the doctor or to ER at one point in my life. The black widow spider bite was the worse one since I was in pain throughout my entire body for 2 days even with morphine.
